Surrogacy

In case where pregnancy is medically impossible (due to, for example, an anomaly involving the uterus) or the pregnancy presents a danger to the mother’s health, it is possible to have a child through a surrogate. Surrogacy is completely legal in Georgia and supervised by the Georgian Ministry of Health. Initially the parties (the couple & the surrogate) sign a contract which stipulates their rights and responsibilities. After the birth, the child is officially registered as the child of the couple.
